So many job seekers spend too much time searching and applying for jobs online, thinking they are being productive. They aren't. The way to get hired, especially if you are changing careers, is to get out and network. Call people in the industry you want to get into and ask if they'd meet you for an informational interview. Most people are only too happy to help others. Plus, after meeting you in person, they are more likely to refer you to their company's H.R. department.
